Lesson 16/26 | Study Time: 22 Min
16. Describe the agreed ways of working in relation to healthcare tasks

Are you carrying out healthcare tasks?

These will be described in an individual’s care or support plan. You are already aware that you cannot give medication without first being instructed and signed off as competent. It is the same for healthcare tasks.

Foot care is usually carried out by a trained podiatrist or chiropodist.

Care and support should always be person-centred with people having maximum control over their own lives. You should always seek permission from an individual before carrying out any task.

You must always follow an individual’s care plan and risk assessment. Record any changes or incidents. Do you know where to find local procedures for healthcare tasks? If not, ask your employer.
