This means that in order to respect a person’s privacy, you should not intrude on information that is personal or sensitive in nature to an individual, or impose on a person’s personal space without consent. Personal care should be supported discretely and sensitive issues discussed quietly or in a private place.
Dignity is the quality of being worthy of honour or respect.
This means that in order to respect a person’s dignity, you should provide care and support in a way which promotes a person’s wellbeing, and does not undermine a person’s self-respect regardless of any difference.
Every individual has the right to be worthy of privacy, dignity and respect.
They should not be subjected to discrimination or insensitive treatment.
