17. List the tasks relating to medication and healthcare procedure you must not do


Certain
procedures relating to medication and healthcare should only be carried out by
people who have been trained and observed as competent.


Failure to follow
these guidelines could result in serious injury or even death to the
individuals you are supporting. These are some of the tasks relating to
medication and healthcare that you will not be allowed to carry out or support
individuals on your own with until you have been signed off as competent:


·        
Applying cream or ointment

·        
Putting drops in eyes or ears
·        
Medication given by patches
·        
Inhalers or inhaled medication
·        
Swallowing any kind of tablet
·        
Nail or cuticle care
·        
Injections including Epi Pens


·        
Taking blood pressure
·        
PEG feeding
·        
Caring for wounds including pressure sores
·        
Cannula care
·        
Catheter care
·        
Stoma care
·        
Tracheostomy care 
·        
Non-emergency first aid like splinters or
minor cuts
·        
Changing dressings
·        
Epilepsy medication
·        
Managing ventilation and oxygen.
