You have checked the care plan, spoken to the individual and encouraged them to drink but you believe they are not drinking enough and you are concerned about dehydration. You need to report these concerns as a person’s health can deteriorate quickly without fluids.
You can talk to:

A more experienced worker

A carer

A family member

A doctor or specialist
You can look for signs that a person may be dehydrated, for example, if a person…
Regularly refuses to drink.
Is always thirsty despite drinking plenty of fluids.
Has dark coloured urine.
Frequently needs to urinate.
Is experiencing difficulty swallowing.
Is struggling with their cup or drinking vessel.
Regularly leaves their drinks untouched.
Is producing urine with a bad smell (and they have not recently eaten asparagus!)
