
Why? Well, would you like to drink something that has been left out for a long time? I wouldn’t.

Depending on the drink, bacteria could grow and bugs could get in.
That’s not great if you have poor health. it could make you very ill.
If an individual uses a water jug, make sure it is adequately cleaned and refreshed, usually at least twice daily.
It is best practice to inform the individual if you have refreshed their glass or jug and tell them where you have placed it. Make sure it is placed within easy reach.

People should have access to clean drinking water 24 hours a day.
Some people may only drink fresh water, others may prefer fruit juice or squash. Watch out for sugar levels!
Find out what the individual likes and work with them to ensure their hydration needs are met.
