You may have heard about yin, yang and qi (pronounced chee). Yin-yang refers to a concept originating in ancient Chinese philosophy where opposite forces are seen as interconnected and counterbalancing. The principle of yin and yang is that all things exist as inseparable and contradictory opposites, for example, dark-light, north-south and old-young.

It works alongside yin and yang which are always shifting and changing. Essentially, people need to respond to the changes we experience in our lives in order to maintain the harmony of yin and yang which relates to our mental wellbeing. If we do not make appopriate responses to change, we may find ourselves in a pattern of disharmony and subsequently into illness, disease and suffering.
