Personal Data
Personal Data is any information about a person who can be identified as a result of the information.
You have a legal requirement to keep any personal data secure. As a support worker this means you must know about and follow your organisation’s policies and procedures. Take a moment to see if you can quickly find the following policies or procedures. Your CQC inspector might ask you about them if they talk to you during their next inspection.
As a support worker the most likely way you will be involved in a data breach is through something you say or do.
But don’t worry there are some simple tips to help avoid some of the most likely scenarios.
What is a personal data breach?
A personal data breach is more than just losing someone’s personal data. It can be anything which causes the destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised sharing or access to personal data.
It doesn’t matter if it was an accidental or deliberate, it is still a breach .
