Module Summary
Abbreviations make everybody's lives easier. They allow staff to communicate swiftly while in the air, and they make writing easier. While many cabin crew members are not expected to learn each abbreviation immediately, it is important to learn them on the job. This module covered the basics of these abbreviations, so you can familiarise yourself with them before an interview. It is highly unlikely that you will be asked to remember all of them. Abbreviations do not just apply to the aviation industry; they apply to airports within the UK. While most cabin crew members are assigned to a single airport, some are assigned to several. As such, knowing what the different abbreviations are makes it easier to read your roster. This is also essential for anybody who wants to know more about regional destinations. Finally, abbreviations apply to the world's most common destinations. Look at any flight ticket, and you will see an abbreviation on it, often in place of the full destination name. This is handy for speeding up your own operations. In addition, while on the ground, you may be asked to identify destinations on someone's ticket.
