types of wedding fashion

How to find wedding
attire within budget

How to save money on wedding attire

About making sure the wedding attire fits

About clothing
after the wedding

15.1  : Clothing Introduction

Since Kate Middleton walked down the aisle to marry Prince William,

overly garish wedding dresses seem to have fallen out of fashion a little.

At the same time, the ladies gracing
our screens as part of documentaries like 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' and 'Don't Tell the Bride' continue to ensure they're at least still a little popular.

The key take home message here is that everyone
seems to love something different. As a wedding
planner, it's your job to make sure they get the type of different
they love.

15.2  : The Different
types of Wedding Fashion

As a wedding planner,
you may find yourself assisting
the following categories
of people:

The bride

The groom

The bridesmaids

Ushers and best men

Broader members of the wedding party, such as parents of the bride(s)
or groom(s)

Depending on whether the wedding
has a tight budget, you might find that the couple is paying for the first three or four categories
only.

At the same time, they may appreciate
your input in terms of style ideas and finding the right shops for broader members of the wedding party to head to.

15.3  : Finding Wedding Attire Within budget

For many brides, their dress will take center stage when it comes to the wedding
fashion stakes.

As such, you might find that you have a sizable portion
of the budget to contend
with. Whether this is the case or not, you need to make yourself
aware of the different types of stores available and how

likely they are to cater to the couple's
budget.

At the lower priced end of the scale are outlets, department stores, or even eBay.

A word of caution: don't broach the subject of eBay with a bride, but if they're looking at budget options and need a little help then make it clear that you're perfectly happy to work with them on that.

15.4  : Saving Money on Wedding Attire

There are several ways brides and grooms can save money
on wedding

attire.

One of the biggest financial
killers is accessories.

Accessories are meant to complement the remainder of the outfit, not dominate
it. Unless the bride is wearing a particularly short wedding gown, she needs to consider
carefully whether a $1000 pair of shoes is necessary.

Another great way to save money is to use a suit hire service,
and this is almost essential
when it comes to the groom, best man, and usher. While this may seem a little unfair, male members of the wedding party tend to place less emotional significance on their outfits compared to female members.

15.5  : Looking Out for Luxury Goods

While some brides
will want you to help them save money, others
will look for the most luxurious option available.

When this happens,
the chances are they'll want you to be up-to-date
with the latest bridal fashions.
Keep reading those wedding magazines,
check out what sites like Net-a-Porter have to offer, and stick to upmarket brands like Pronovias.

15.6  : Making Sure the Wedding
Attire Fits

 The majority
of brides will decide on a dress long before their wedding.

In some cases, those same brides will decide on dresses for the bridesmaids, plus outfits for the male members of the party, months before the wedding. When this happens, you need to make sure they review everyone's body size just before the wedding.

While some may choose to lose weight, others will put it on or lose it without realising,
or puberty may hit with some of the bridesmaids, causing their dresses
to have an ill fit. In an ideal world, perfect fitting clothes wouldn't
irk most people. In the wedding world, however, they can lead to frayed tempers and spilled tears on the big day.

As already discussed
in the wedding planning timeline portion of this course, you need to make final dress fittings between a month and a week of the wedding. This allows for last minute adjustments, the opportunity to identify poor fits, and a chance to change accessories.

Knowing that the dress fits well is also a good way to ensure the bride feels relaxed on the big day.

15.7  : Clothing After the Wedding

Depending on whether
anything was hired for the wedding, you might find your role as a wedding planner extends into dry cleaning,
returning suits, and settling bills while the happy couple is on honeymoon.

To prepare for this, draw up a list of what you need to do, as well as whom you can go to in the instance
that a little dry cleaning
is needed. Make sure there's
a little adjusting
room in the budget for said services too.

15.8  : Wedding Beauty

What many wedding planners forget is the importance of helping the bride out with wedding beauty.

Even if everything
is perfectly planned in terms of the event, without beauty preparations, brides often end up feeling a little disappointed.

In order for them to look their best on the big day, a significant amount of preparation is needed. Although every person will have their own preferences, you need to understand what wedding beauty usually entails.
This way, you can educate your client and make sure that the bride knows exactly
what she can do to make sure that she can look her best on the day of the wedding.

Make sure that you remind your clients
that they do not have to do everything that you suggest, but only what they are comfortable with. Here
is some of the information that you will need to help your client with wedding beauty. Many of these
tips can also be useful for bridesmaids, so encourage the bride to share the information with her girlfriends when needed.

15.9  : Always Plan Ahead

 Just as it is important
for event planning,
planning ahead is crucial for wedding beauty as well.

Trying to overload
on beauty and grooming practices
a few days before the wedding will be a recipe for disaster. Not only will the women end up feeling extremely
stressed out, but the beauty effects will be poor as well.

You should always plan ahead and set aside a schedule that can be easily followed for wedding
beauty needs. Try preparing at least 8 months in advance of the wedding.

15.10  : Ensure Perfect
Skin

Consult a Dermatologist

If the bride is having some skin issues, consulting
a dermatologist would be a good idea, especially if

she is constantly battling
acne. Consider consulting one at least 6 months
before the actual
wedding.

Drink Water

The best way to make sure that the bride has great skin for the day is to remind her to drink tons and tons of water. This will make sure that her skin looks healthy and glows on the big day.

Facials

To make sure that the bride has perfect skin on the day of the wedding,
you need to start preparing
months in advance. Consider having monthly facials from a professional to improve skin quality.

Your last facial should be no later than 2 weeks before the wedding date.

Make sure research
is done before the bride decides on the professional that she wishes to work with. You can consider
making an appointment in person and looking at the people who are leaving the salon. Only consider the place if you the people leaving
look great with glowing skin. Facials are meant to help you look better, not worse.

Protect the Skin

No matter if the bride decides to enlist the services of a professional or to do it on her own, remind her to reduce the risk of skin irritation and harm at least 1 month before the day of the wedding.

This means that all chemical
skin treatments should be completely avoided. Non-chemical procedures can be used as long as they are at least 1 week before the wedding.
It is also important to moisturise the skin and only use gentle face scrubs when cleaning. To make sure that your skin remains
protected when you go out as well, do not underestimate the power of sunscreen.

Dreaded Pimples

Pimples can easily pop out at the most unexpected of times, despite
proper skin care. If a pimple does come out near your big day, reduce it using a hot compress,
followed by a cold compress.
Put a tiny bit of benzyl peroxide afterwards to kill any remaining bacteria.

You can also use cool cotton pads soaked in either milk or chamomile
tea on irritated skin. Add lukewarm water afterwards.

Another method would be to put on a little bit of toothpaste on the area of the pimple. It is also effective to do this if a pimple looks like it will come out soon. Make sure that it is the paste type of toothpaste, not the gel.

15.11
: Bright and Beautiful Eyes

No one wants to have the appearance of a raccoon at a wedding.

Late nights can produce dark circles
around the eyes as well as puffiness, especially since the skin around the eyes can be very sensitive.
Remind the bride to be careful when taking off eye makeup. Use a water-soluble remover rather than scrubbing and refrain from rubbing.

The bride can also consider
applying eye cream every night, and do not skimp out on beauty sleep. A cool compress 1 or 2 times a week will do wonders for puffy eyes. As the wedding day approaches, stay away from salty food, which can also lead to swollen eyes.

15.12
: Grooming

Other procedures that the bride might want to consider
will include plucking eyebrows, bikini waxing,
teeth whitening, and tanning.

However, although these are all worthy
actions to consider, they should not be done right before the wedding. These actions might lead to some
swelling and bleeding as well as discomfort, which is not ideal for the wedding day. Brows should be shaped 1 week before the wedding, while waxing should be 1 week to 10 days before the wedding.

Whitening Teeth

Teeth bleaching can be done to whiten teeth. Natural methods also include eating raw vegetables
and eating strawberries and lemons. Remind the bride to avoid drinking dark sodas, coffee, and red wine in the days leading up to the wedding.

Tanning

Tans can also be great for the bride. Make sure that the bride understands that under-doing is always better than overdoing. No one wants to end up looking like a pumpkin on the day of the wedding. Also, if the bride has a white wedding dress, remind her that the dress will reflect light.
This will make skin color seem even darker in photographs.

If the bride does not want to risk overdoing
a tan, consider using only cream or powder bronzer.
This way, she will be able to make the proper adjustments on the day of the wedding.

15.13
: Wedding Hair

In order for hair to look its best on the grand day, considerable care needs to be put into taking care of it well in advance.

Without some care, it is likely that the bride's hair is full of split ends and damaged hair.

Remind her that a little repairing can go a long way. This means that she should take multi-vitamins well before the wedding, if this is a concern. Foods such as fish, nuts, and eggs will also help out.

Consider getting scalp massages and deep conditioning treatments at least 4 weeks before the wedding to help the hair out. If there are any split and damaged ends ruining the look, suggest
a trim to fix everything up.

Many brides feel as if they have to make their hair look impressive
on the day of the wedding. However,
you should advise them to stay with something that they are comfortable with. On the day of the wedding, they should stick with a common hairstyle they use, rather than something
that may be antiquated and outdated. This does not mean that their hair needs to stay ordinary.

After choosing a common hairstyle
that they frequently use, make enhancing
changes. Ask a stylist for a creative twist to a look that the bride usually has. Refine the look a little, and add an accessory
to top it off. After all, there must be something about the bride's look that made the groom fall in love with the first place.

15.14
: Manicures
and Pedicures

One of the last things you want your bride to be worried about is chipped

nails.

Nail polish can easily chip only hours after application. To avoid this, suggest the use of gels instead.
The bride can choose from an impressive bridal nail art manicure, but
she can also go for something classic
to complement her overall look. A gentle color will also keep the focus off the
nails and on the new ring as well.

Try it out!

You should make sure that the bride gets a trial run with her hair and makeup a while before the big day.

This way, with a mini “dress rehearsal,” the bride can find out if this look is what she wants on her wedding
day. Take a few photos as something
can look much different in the photograph than expected. This will help all of you avoid any nasty surprises.

15.15
: Consider
This Beauty Schedule

To better help the bride on the right path, here is a summary of what her wedding beauty
schedule can look like.

Remember, this will work wonders for bridesmaids as well!
